Ezekiel 22:27-29
Your leaders are like wolves who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people’s lives for money! And your prophets cover up for them by announcing false visions and making lying predictions. They say, ‘My message is from the Sovereign LORD,’ when the LORD hasn’t spoken a single word to them. Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.Leaders are constantly under attack today. Leaders have a responsibility to equip the people for the work that has to be done. Like any job, the people have to respect and submit to their leaders or there will be problems. If you don’t listen to your boss, you might face punishment or even termination.
God set this up for a reason. God wants us to see Him as our leader. The leaders in this scripture were leading the people astray from God. No longer were they honoring God’s Sabbath day and laws. We are also faced with a similar situation in our country. It is happening all over the world too. As Christians, we are to help those in need like orphans, widows, and the poor. We should help even the common people of our day to see that this is important to God and is the right thing to do.
Leaders are supposed to protect and guide the people. If they don’t, we can face many problems in the future. Leaders should be doing things in a moral way and setting the standard to live by. If you are a leader for your family, church, or job what kind of standards are you setting? What do you want your family, friends, and colleagues to remember and resemble about you?
Dear Jesus, help me to lead in a way that honors you today! Help me to set the right standards for my family, my friends, my church, and my job. Give me the wisdom to discern right and wrong situations that I may be faced with today. Help me to live with high moral excellence and integrity everywhere I go today! In Jesus name, Amen!
