Daniel 12:3
Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. We live in a day where many people want to be movie stars. Reality television shows have changed the way the entertainment industry works. People are so fascinated with other people’s lives. Many people want to be in the “in crowd.” When something becomes popular, we want to watch or be where everything is happening so we can fit in.
Living as a Christian is just the opposite. Many times Christians will be made fun of, laughed at, and some will face persecution and even death for their beliefs. Many Christians have died all around the world for their trust in Jesus Christ. But being in the “in crowd” can happen to churches too. All the sudden, a new, vibrant, entertaining church comes along and everyone jumps ship and wants to be a part of it. Many will sacrifice their convictions and beliefs to be part of the new “in crowd,” that some churches have created.
You can say that this ministry is not part of the “in crowd.” You have to be a “Jesus Freak” to go to your town square and pray right? Many people might wonder what those few faithful people are doing praying at their town square for, but God knows that it is important to pray on behalf of our town, our nation, and others all around the world. We have to let our light shine like stars. It’s not so we can become rich and famous like movie stars, but that God can receive the glory and praise when we lead many to His righteousness and make His name shine like the stars forever.
Dear Jesus, let my light shine like the stars. Help me to lead many to righteousness so you can get all honor and praise. Help me not to be like so many who follow the “in crowd” and sacrifice their beliefs for the sake of being popular and wealthy. Help me stay focused on your calling for my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
