Guiding Light

Ezekiel 7:1-2
Then this message came to me from the LORD: “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says to Israel: “The end is here! Wherever you look—east, west, north, or south—your land is finished.

The Israelites have been a blessed people for many years. God chose them to ultimately, send His Son Jesus, into the world. But we also see, all throughout the history of the Bible, how God dealt with their sins. In this chapter of Ezekiel, God makes no exception. God would finally judge His people and kill many and scatter the rest until His wrath was satisfied. His people were acting worse than even the pagan nations did and God had had enough.

When I look at America, I can’t help but wonder what’s in store for us. Will God use the same judgment He had on the Israelites on us too? We have become so comfortable with our lives and have bought into this “I” mentality. We have been demoralized as a nation through television, radio, the internet, and so much more. The things we let our children watch and the things we allow ourselves to get caught up in can be very degrading. If there is anything Satan would want us to do, it would be to sit back and do nothing about it, and not change our lifestyle to help further the gospel. If we become lukewarm in our faith, then we are useless to God, and we fall right into Satan’s trap of complacency.

If you think about it, no one is free from God’s judgment. Whether in this life or the next, God will judge all of mankind for everything they have done. God has sent clear warning signs to us, just like He sent to the Israelites, about how He expects His children to act and conduct themselves. We need to be careful not to fall into the trap of complacency. We have to be on the offense and fight the good fight against immorality. We have to let our light shine in order for the world to be free. Then, we will see a change in our society and our culture.

Today, go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to help you be more aware of the needs around you. Allow God to show you how you can be more involved in the work of His kingdom. Don’t put all your hope in your bank account, the economy, the government, or your job. Put all your trust in God and let Him be your guiding light.
