Only What God Can Do

Daniel 2:21-22
He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.

In this chapter, we see how Daniel was faced with death. King Nebuchadnezzar issued a decree that all magicians, astrologers, and enchanters be killed because they couldn’t interpret his dream. When Daniel heard about this he asked why the king issued such a harsh decree. He immediately went to God and asked that He would reveal the dream to him so they wouldn’t be killed.

The next morning, Daniel woke up and the dream had been revealed to him. These verses are praising the Lord for giving him wisdom to interpret the dream. After Daniel interpreted the dream correctly, the king gave him many valuable gifts and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon. Also, at Daniel’s request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be in charge of all the affairs of Babylon, while Daniel stayed in the royal court.

Daniel never wavered or became weary of his God. He knew that God would protect him and his friends from harm. He remained faithful and followed the Lord’s commands, and God blessed him for it. Even when facing death, Daniel was able to trust God and he saw God provide and give him the wisdom to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar dream correctly. Never forget to rely on God in the toughest situations. God wants us to trust him so He can do something that only He can do.

Dear Jesus, I pray for wisdom and strength today. Help me to trust you in my darkest moments. Give me boldness and courage as I face life’s challenges today. I pray for your provision and blessing today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
