Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Shining our light to this world should be just like a city on a hill. A city on a hill will shine light for miles at night. Our light should shine the same way in our communities and in our homes.
God’s light wants to shine through us and in us daily. We should be using His light to reach others and help others in need. Constantly shining our light will help expose the darkness. God wants His light to shine in the darkest places of the world. The question is will we be faithful to carry our light like a city on a hill or will we be afraid to go?
Pray that God will begin to show you where He wants to shine His light in your life. Maybe you have some friends and family that you need to go to and share your light with. Maybe you have heard about a need you can fill. Always shine God’s light whenever you can. God is always watching and directing our light to shine in every corner and dark hole. He wants to reach the entire world for His glory.
Dear Jesus, help me to shine your light to my community today. Help me help others in their time of need. Give me the courage to share to others about what you did for us on the cross. I pray for wisdom and strength to shine my light in the dark places that you send me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
