Jonah 3:1-3
Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh , and deliver the message I have given you.” This time Jonah obeyed the LORD’s command and went to Nineveh , a city so large that it took three days to see it all.
Does God require us to have a degree or any experience to serve Him? The answer is simply, no He does not. Degrees are nice and can help you grow in your field of service, but it is not a requirement of serving the Lord. All God asks is a willing heart that is broken and will serve Him alone.
Jonah feared going to Nineveh and ran away from the Lord. He didn’t want to tell the people of Nineveh because he didn’t want them to have the chance to repent and turn back to God. I’m sure there are people we don’t like, but when their soul is at stake should it matter what we think about them? All God wants us to do is show His love to people, even people we don’t like. We don’t have to agree with the things they do, but we are supposed to love and rebuke them when they are doing wrong.
Jonah had a mission and didn’t listen the first time. God gave Jonah a second chance and saved his life by being swallowed inside a whale for three days. Are you grateful that God is a God of second chances? He’s even willing to give us more chances too. We have to be willing to listen to God’s call. It might take a second or third chance to get it right, but God is patient and will get you to where He wants you to be when you answer His calling on your life.
