Finish the Task!

Zechariah 8:9-10a
“This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Be strong and finish the task! Ever since the laying of the foundation of the Temple of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, you have heard what the prophets have been saying about completing the building. Before the work on the Temple began, there were no jobs and no money to hire people or animals…”

Have you ever listened to something you know you should do, but because of other things going on in your life you put it off? The people of Israel had done this for 15 years. They heard from the Lord through the prophets to finish rebuilding the temple, but had no sense of urgency to finish the task. The Lord told them too: “Be strong and finish the task!”

Some of us need to listen to these words from Zechariah. The Lord told them to finish rebuilding the temple. Remember, God always has a plan. God could have rebuilt the temple Himself, but He chose to use His chosen people to finish the task. When God tells you to finish the work he has for you, don’t wait for 15 years to finish the work. Start on it as soon as possible. God can provide the people and resources now just as much as He can 15 years from now.

Allow God to show you how to finish the work He has for you. Let God bring the right people into your life. You will need lots of help to accomplish His plan. Having the right kind of help is essential to finishing God’s plan for your life. Align yourself with positive, motivated people that you can trust and watch what God will do in your life.

Dear Jesus, help to be strong and finish the task you have set before me. Give me wisdom and discernment to know how to finish the work you have for me. Put the right people in my life and help me not to put off what you have called me to do! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
